What you’ll do
Reporting to the Vice President, People + Culture the Director, People + Culture will oversee the daily operations of the People & Culture team and ensure that our people practices enable us to meet our ambitious goals, thereby unlocking our potential.
As the Director, People, + Culture you will be an integral member of our People + Culture team, working collaboratively to develop and implement people and culture programs that attract, retain, develop, and empower top talent. This is a hands-on role that demands both strategic thinking and effective tactical execution. Your expertise and innovative thinking will be essential in shaping our team member experience, supporting our growth, and maintaining a workplace culture that embodies our core values of Think Big, Lead with Heart and Step Up.
More specifically, you will:
- Partner with the Vice President, People + Culture to execute strategic people initiatives that support exceptional team member experiences from recruitment to offboarding, including engagement, development, and recognition.
- Manage, coach, and lead key members of the People + Culture team in all aspects of daily operations, while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and service excellence, including overseeing the Volunteer Relations Manager and program.
- Manage, develop and maintain selected People & Culture Policies.
- Represent the People + Culture Team as an active member of the Leadership Team.
- Design, implement, and evaluate learning and development programs that build individual and team capability, strengthen organizational performance, and support continuous career growth.
- Implement leadership training and practices throughout the Foundation to enhance skills and capabilities, fostering positive impact on overall performance.
- Work collaboratively across departments to embed Foundation values and strengthen a culture of service, inclusion, and continuous improvement, while promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on people-related matters, helping build leadership effectiveness and team alignment.
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment strategies to attract skilled, values-aligned talent. Ensure a seamless, inclusive onboarding and orientation experience that accelerates new hire integration and engagement.
- Partner with members of the P+C and Foundation Teams to continue to develop a comprehensive onboarding program designed to engage individuals, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging meaningful contributions from day one.

You have successfully developed and implemented people programs, ideally within a service-oriented or hospitality environment, that prioritize excellence in service delivery and building meaningful connections. You understand that the experiences we create for our people directly influence the relationships we build with our donors and partners. - Post secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field such as Human Resources and/or Business Administration or a related discipline or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ideally possesses a CPHR designation or is actively working toward its completion.
- A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving and program development.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on building meaningful partnerships across the organization.
- Passion for creating exceptional team member experiences that positively influence organizational culture.
- Highly proficient with technology, especially learning and development-related systems and tools; experienced in recommending diverse training modalities and implementing them effectively.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and align partners at all levels of the organization.
- Experience driving change management initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Proven ability in facilitation and presentation skills.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources or People & Culture, including at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- Proven experience developing and executing strategic people initiatives across the employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, development, and offboarding).
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing learning and development programs, including leadership training.
- Experience overseeing volunteer programs is an asset.

The hiring range for this position is between $134,890 and $151,470. At BCCHF, we are committed to ensuring that compensation is fair and equitable. Your placement in the salary range will be determined by your experience, relevant skills, and qualifications as they relate to this role.
