Assistant 2/ Laboratory Support

As per

The
Laboratory Assistant II/Laboratory Support performs duties such as
venipunctures, collecting urine samples for analysis by the Technologist,
preparing and staining slides, and preparing and batching specimens.
What you’ll do
·
Perform
venipunctures and micro blood collection on adults, children, and babies.
·
Check
specimen identification against requisition to prepare for blood and urine
analysis and look up patient information utilizing the laboratory computer
information system.
·
Separate
serum/plasma from cells by centrifugation.
·
Batch specimens
in order of established priorities for distribution to various areas or
laboratories for testing.
·
Collect
urine samples from outpatients as outlined on the requisition.
·
Prepare
various staining solutions, chemical cleaning, and disinfectant solutions as
required. Change staining solutions, stains, mounts and labels slides.
What you
bring
·
Completion
of Grade 12
·
Successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program.
·
One (1)
year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education,
training and experience.
You have
the ability to:
·
Keyboard at 25 w.p.m.
·
Communicate
effectively both verbally and in writing.
·
Deal with
others effectively.
·
Physically
carry out the duties of the position.
·
Organize
work.
·
Operate
related equipment.

Lower Mainland Laboratories (LM Labs)
provides laboratory testing at 31 sites across the lower mainland and
central coast of BC, including acute care hospital laboratories and specialty
laboratories.
