Job Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator, Oncology Nutrition, in consultation with the Provincial Director, Nutrition, and the Regional Cancer Centre Administrator provides leadership in the development of evidence-based practice in Oncology Nutrition, is involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical services delivered by the Regional Cancer Centre’s Nutrition Services Program and provides clinical direction and evaluation of assigned staff. Performs clinical, educational, community development, research, and administrative duties.
Duties/Accountabilities:
1. Provides clinical supervision and consultation for Oncology Nutrition Services staff at the Regional Cancer Centre.
2. Reviews workload assignments and adjusts schedules according to demands to ensure that staff levels meet operational requirements.
3. Evaluates staff performance.
4. Recruits staff through methods such as identifying vacancies, processing required internal paperwork, interviewing applicants and making recommendations to the Provincial Director, Nutrition, for selection to maintain approved staff complement.
5. Collaborates with the Provincial Director, Nutrition, to develop and monitor the budget for Regional Cancer Centre’s Oncology Nutrition Services.
6. Develops implements and evaluates goals and objectives for the area in conjunction with the Provincial Director, Nutrition, and the Regional Cancer Centre Administrator.
7. Collaborates with other Regional Clinical Coordinators, and Nutrition colleagues in the development, implementation, and communication of evidence-based provincial Oncology Nutrition practice standards, guidelines, and procedures; screening, assessment and treatment tools and techniques, and to develop and revise programs and resources for patients and families.
8. Triages and provides nutritional care for patients and their families as assigned.
9. Participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, promoting and maintaining relationships with other disciplines within the cancer centre, host hospitals and related community programs to meet patient care and educational requirements.
10. Participates in research and evaluation of the full spectrum of the cancer trajectory.
11. Provides leadership for education and consultation to community providers for evidence-based practice in Oncology Nutrition.
12. Participates in the education and training of Dietetic Interns and other students and provides education sessions as necessary for academic institutions within the region.
13. Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience
• Master degree in Nutrition or in a related area from an accredited university.
• Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC.
• Five years’ clinical nutrition practice with experience in an oncology setting including a minimum of one year of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment such as a personal computer and related software programs.
• Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Demonstrated skills in CPR techniques.
