BCEHS intends to fill 1 (one) vacancy for a Full-Time Regular Scheduled Charge Dispatcher in the Vancouver Dispatch Operations Centre.

As outlined in Appendix 23, to support the recruitment and retention of Indigenous workers, and to improve the care of Indigenous patients/residents/clients/service users across the health care system, the Employer may select an Indigenous candidate, even where they are not the most senior qualified candidate.

Selection Criteria 

 

Selection will be in accordance with Article 13.03 of the Collective Agreement and the 13.03 Joint Interpretation located here.  13.03 (d) or (e) may not be utilized to move into a regular position.

Upon application, employees occupying a supervisory position, provided they meet the requirements of the position to which they are applying, shall be appointed on the basis of service seniority.

 

 

Next, vacant positions will be filled following the next steps:

 

Applicants first considered will meet the following eligibility criteria:

 

      i.           Bargaining unit employee

     ii.           Three (3) years plus a day experience within BCEHS at the relevant dispatch level

 

The above noted qualifiers must be achieved by the closing of the posting.

 

*All interested employees are encouraged to apply to charge vacancies.  In the event there are less than four applicants who meet the criteria in Article 13.03(a) then the Employer shall first consider all full-time bargaining unit applicants on the posting. Where positions remain vacant, the employer may also consider on-call employees.

 

  1. Knowledge/Skills Assessment (45% of total score)

Applicants will be required to successfully complete a knowledge/skills assessment. This assessment is online through the Learning Hub and must be completed from a location with reliable internet access.  Eligible applicants will be notified of the exam date via their BCEHS email address at least 7 days in advance.

Please be aware, applicants require access to a reliable internet connection via Google Chrome, and it is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities.

 

 

        2. Interview (45% of total score)

Applicants who successfully achieve a score of 65% or higher on the Knowledge/Skills Assessment will be scheduled to interview. Video interviewing will be used to allow applicants to answer the questions remotely using recorded video.  Eligible applicants will be notified of the interview date at least 7 days in advance. 

 

 

Please be aware, you will require access to a reliable internet connection and a web camera. It is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities.

 

        3. Full-Time Seniority (Up to 10%)

Up to 10% will be applied to all candidates who complete the interview to determine their final score.

 

The successful candidate(s) shall be the employee(s) with the highest total score and a satisfactory disciplinary record.

 

Please note, employees accepting any Regular position under the Collective Agreement will not be entitled to rescind an accepted offer after 61 days of accepting the offer. Regular and Irregular employees may only rescind within 61 days after acceptance. You will also be required to report to your new position within the 61 days of acceptance. Employees that rescind an offer at any time arenot guaranteed to be placed back into their current/prior position.
