Training:
- Basic flight training for successful applicants will be scheduled for June 5-8, 2025, and June 24-27, 2025. New candidates are expected to attend one of the cohorts for basic flight training. The PCFP and ACFP education program (6 months) will begin at a later date.

BCEHS intends to fill 2 (two) vacancies for a Full-Time Regular Advanced Care Flight Paramedic (ACFP) -Adult at station 580 -Prince George Clinical Air Operations. Open to all qualified BCEHS ACP employees. Selection process will follow 13.03.

Job Summary
In accordance with the Purpose, Vision, Values and Coast Salish Teachings, and strategic direction of PHSA and BCEHS, safety, including both patient and employee safety, is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA and BCEHS. As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Advanced Care Flight Paramedic (ACFP) reports to the Unit Chief/or designate, and is responsible for the assessment, treatment, transportation, and continuous clinical monitoring of injured or ill patients. The role collaborates with Critical Care Paramedic Advisor (CCPA), Emergency Physician Online Support (EPOS) and Paramedic Specialist (PS) group as consulting parties and performs duties in a variety emergency responses vehicles including helicopters, small jets/planes, and/or ground ambulances.
The ACPF works in accordance with BCEHS ACPF Treatment Guidelines and legislation administered by BC Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board (BC EMALB) Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) Schedule 1 and 2 and within the ACFP defined operational scope, in compliance with established standard operating policies, guidelines and procedures. The role advocates on behalf of patients and communicates and interacts effectively with co-workers, other allied health care professionals and public safety partners to ensure safe, proficient, and efficient patient care and transportation.

Duties
- Provides quality patient care in pre-hospital emergency situations in a variety emergency responses land, air, and sea vehicles.
- Completes a comprehensive assessment of the patient, establishes a physiological based problem list and subsequent treatment plan, to meet the physiological needs of the patient, within ACFP scope of practice and established policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Communicates treatment plans to EPOS, PS and/or CCPAs, the sending physician, nursing, and allied health care staff, attending paramedics, family members and bystanders, for safe implementation of the patient’s treatment plan.
- Implements patient treatment plans and continuously monitors the patient for physiological changes with limited communication during air transports.
- Ensures safe, proficient, and efficient patient care and transportation.
- Maintains current knowledge and skill required for the position. Maintains familiarity with all Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) formulary, equipment, and logistics.
- Functions as a partner for CCP resources when an ACFP/CCP configuration is required.
- Provides direction to paramedics, first responders, patients and others partners and supervises observers on car and/or trainees, as required.
- Participates in formal/informal education, program development and mentoring to promote and support staff development.
- Identifies issues and strategies for addressing actual/potential complex program or system-wide problems and concerns to enhance service delivery and patient care.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education, Training and Experience
- Valid and current Advanced Care Paramedic License issued by the BC Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board.
- Unrestricted/restricted valid Class 1,2 or 4 British Columbia driver’s license
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of treatment guidelines, policies and procedures, local service standards, and business unit standards.
- Working knowledge of flight physiology, gas laws, primary stressors of flight, and the tolerances to the primary stressors on both crews and patients.
- Demonstrated ability to perform at a high degree of independence in clinical practice.
- Demonstrated ability to manage changing priorities and competing demands to accomplish objectives in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, identify key factors and underlying causes, and generate solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professional, courteous, respectful relationships with all patients, co-workers, other emergency, and health care providers.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain clear and open communications with internal and external clients.

Selection Criteria
Selection will be in accordance with Article 13.03 of the Collective Agreement and the 13.03 Joint Interpretation located here. 13.03 (d) or (e) may not be utilized to move into a regular position.
Applicants first considered will meet the following eligibility criteria:
1. CUPE member
2. Must have 3 years plus a day of experience within BCEHS at the relevant Paramedic Level (ACP)
3. Satisfactory work record; must be maintained for the duration of this qualification
The above noted qualifiers must be achieved by the closing of the posting per standard selection processes for CUPE 873 employees.

Where positions remain vacant, the employer may also consider on-call employees.
- Knowledge/Skills Assessment (45% of total score)
Applicants will be required to successfully complete a knowledge/skills assessment. This assessment is online through the Learning Hub and must be completed from a location with reliable internet access. Eligible applicants will be notified of the exam date via their BCEHS email address at least 7 days in advance.

2. Interview (45% of total score)
Applicants who successfully achieve a score of 65% or higher on the Knowledge/Skills Assessment will be scheduled to interview. Video interviewing will be used to allow applicants to answer the questions remotely using recorded video. Eligible applicants will be notified of the interview date at least 7 days in advance.
Please be aware, you will require access to a reliable internet connection and a web camera. It is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities.
3. Full-Time Seniority (Up to 10%)
Up to 10% will be applied to all candidates who complete the interview to determine their final score.
The successful candidate(s) shall be the employee(s) with the highest total score and a satisfactory disciplinary record.
Training
Successful candidates will be required to attend and successfully complete a variety of training, including but not limited to, courses, orientation, and field training. Successful applicants are required to attend training.

Please note, employees accepting any Regular position under the Collective Agreement will not be entitled to rescind an accepted offer after 61 days of accepting the offer. Regular and Irregular employees may only rescind within 61 days after acceptance. You will also be required to report to your new position within the 61 days of acceptance.
