Crown Agencies and Board Resourcing Office is responsible for:
  • overseeing the governance planning and reporting cycle including Crown agency mandate letters; service plans and annual service plan reports for ministries and Crowns.
  • ensuring that the application process for provincial appointment is inclusive and transparent.
  • establishing guidelines for all provincial appointments to agencies, boards and commissions (ABCs)
  • ensuring that appointees receive appropriate orientation and ongoing professional development with respect to agency governance issues
The provincial government makes appointments to over 240 ABCs. These include: authorities, boards, commissions, crown agencies, corporations and councils.

People with applicable skills from all regions of our province are invited to help renew B.C.’s public sector boards. The Province’s goal is strong boards that reflect the diversity of British Columbia for effective and citizen-centred governance

Women, visible minorities, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, persons of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity or expression (LGBTQ2S+), and others who may contribute to diversity in public sector board appointments are encouraged to put their names forward for appointments.

Consideration will be given to individuals with a broad range of backgrounds in community, labour and business environments. The selection process will recognize lived experience and volunteer roles as well as paid employment and academic achievements.
