Registered Nurses, Sexual Assault Services Program

Casual Opportunities

 

BC Women’s is seeking registered nurses to build their unique Sexual Assault Services Program based at Vancouver Hospital’s Emergency Department. Working within a casual on-call capacity, you will become an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, providing nursing care, emotional support, health education, and referrals to community-based support services. You will work closely with other members of the Sexual Assault Service team, initiating the team response and assisting in the provision of care.

 

You bring to this role an understanding of issues related to violence against women and a compassionate commitment to caring for survivors of sexual assault. BC Women’s will provide in-depth training to compliment your one to two years’ nursing experience, preferably gained in community health nursing, youth clinics and/or STD clinics. Knowledge of women’s health issues and volunteer or work experience in women’s health organizations will be an asset. Since most cases are seen between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. you must be available for several 24 hour on-call shifts per month and be currently registered with CRNBC.
