In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Provides and coordinates nursing care services such as patient assessment, patient and family teaching, and health promotion activities for mental health pediatric patients and their families, consistent with established policies, standards of practice and philosophy at Children’s & Women’s Health Centre of BC, British Columbia’s Children’s Hospital.
Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC).
Graduation from a recognized diploma program in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
One (1) year of recent experience working in an acute psychiatric hospital setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPR Training – Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Level 1.
Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of behavioural, social emotional and mental health/psychiatric problems in children and youth.
Knowledge of child and youth developmental theory.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to children/adolescents and their families.
Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of multidisciplinary care team, work independently, and function as a nursing resource.
Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, and deal with conflict.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Ability to operate related equipment.
