The Imaging Informatics Specialist reports to the Manager or designate and provides leadership, input, support, and insight when appropriate, to lead and promote the integration of computer and communications technologies and clinical change initiatives that automate and/or enhance evidence-based clinical practices, access to patient/client information and clinical documentation via the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

 

As an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Imaging Informatics Specialist works to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, accountability and sustainability of clinical initiatives that assist in the successful use of a fully integrated EHR throughout medical imaging (MI) programs and services. The role may provide 24-hour support, some weekends and on-call rotations as needed and has a primary responsibility to a program or service area but works across the MI departments and related organizations or in a broader regional context as required.


What you’ll do

 

  • Provides clinical informatics leadership and support when participating in business systems reviews and needs assessments for assigned CST implementation areas, projects and departments in support of design and implementation at all CST sites.
  • Serves as a consulting resource to information technology leadership, project teams, other members of the organization and peer health organizations regarding requirements for staff and physicians, clinical information, electronic documentation practice and electronic health information.
  • Informs the design, development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of electronic health information systems and their associated dictionaries, databases, tables, reports and related standards, protocols and procedures to support MI clinical uptake of electronic health and information records.
  • Leads pre-activation adoption activities at multiple facilities including participation in go-live activities and provides ongoing user support, both in person and by phone.
  • Observes and evaluates MI clinical practice to determine staff/provider adoption/education needs related to the use of technology in MI practice and process redesign.
  • Provides peer leadership to imaging staff and/or coaching to providers, nursing, and other clinical staff to incorporate advances in clinical informatics and the development of EHRs into practice.
  • Leads the identification of and assists in the development of new and changing functions and processes in the department/organization as they relate to the use of imaging and clinical information systems.

 

What you bring

 

Qualifications

 

  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related health discipline and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a healthcare environment, including experience using related computer technology, clinical change management and/or project leadership and peer mentorship or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience implementing/supporting integrated clinical system environments an asset.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license as local area travel may require the use of a vehicle. Mileage will be reimbursed as per the collective agreement.

 

You will also have

  • Knowledge of the applicable MI standards of practice and guidelines for MI clinical practitioners.
  • Knowledge of organizational MI clinical and administrative workflows.
  • Maintains clinical competency, practice standards of care and knowledge, and supports the integration of evidence-based practice in the delivery of quality/care services.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy and procedure development and/or clinical documentation standards, business process analysis and reengineering techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge regarding new trends in MI clinical practice and information systems.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
