BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) cares for the province's most acutely ill or injured children and youth, provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offers a broad range of health services. Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children (SHHC), a leading provincial facility offering specialized services to children and youth with developmental disabilities from birth to age 17, works collaboratively with BCCH. SHHC focuses on the child and their family while supporting health care professionals in their community. BCCH also operates a wide number of specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the Child and Family Research Institute and in partnership with the University of British Columbia.

If you are feeling stagnant but thrive in a critical care setting, then consider joining the Critical Care Program at BC Children’s Hospital where we treat more than 1,200 children annually in an environment of hope. Through a family-centered approach, we care for newborn to 17 year-old children with life threatening disease, injuries or following surgery. Our culture is open, welcoming, and committed to engaging nurses in advanced clinical learning and practice opportunities. Positive outcomes are the goal, and you will also support the mentoring and education of the next generation of nurses through preceptorship and new graduate learning.

 

You have completed a certified nursing program, have current registration, or eligibility, with the College of Registered Nurses of BC, and bring previous nursing experience, ideally gained in a critical care setting. Even if your nursing career has been focused within adult populations, we can train and support your transition into this pediatric specialty. Job shadowing and tours of the PICU are available on request.
