Reporting to the VP Engineering, the Engineering Manager is responsible for the recruitment, development and day-to-day management of Cascades functional Engineering resources. The Engineering Manager brings together the technological problem-solving capabilities of engineering and the organizational, administrative, and planning abilities of management in order to support and coordinate the application of Engineering resources.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

2) Provide direction to Cascade Aerospace’s Engineering Department staff and ensure all departmental goals and objectives are met, consistent with established strategies.
a) Provide company wide Engineering support as mandated, working cooperatively with the departments to ensure result-oriented solutions are achieved.
b) Manage engineering priorities established in Cascade Aerospace’s business plan and ensure resources are allocated according to identified importance.
c) Maintain sufficient engineering staffing levels. Regularly review resource demands against available pool and forecast potential shortfalls and overages.
d) Carry out recruitment activities for additional resources when required.
e) Develop and implement new policies and procedures to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Cascade Aerospace’s Engineering Department.
f) Conduct performance reviews and provide employees with performance feedback and encourage the development of effective work practices.
g) Handle performance management issues.
h) Establish and manage the Engineering department goals and objectives and ensure employee accountability.
i) Identify, approve and coordinate all Engineering department training requirements.
j) Provide input and manage the Engineering Department’s annual budget.
3) Contribute to the development of business cases and proposals:
a) Support strategic business development activities related to new programs.
b) Completing proposal and bid submissions including review and accountability for all Engineering estimates and plans.
c) Support marketing efforts related to new or existing programs.
d) Direct efforts to implement new programs.
4) Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Cascade Aerospace’s Human Resources safety and security policies and procedures and fulfill the requirements of the company’s employment equity program.
5) Perform other duties as required.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or education and experience found acceptable to the VP of Engineering
Project Management, Personnel Management
Experience: 5 years experience in various disciplines of aeronautical engineering
5 years experience working with Aircraft certification authorities
5 years experience managing aircraft modification projects
5 years experience in project management (budget/cost estimations, planning)
3-5 years experience as a supervisor or in a management position
